I listen to a lot of podfic (~8 hours of bus commuting every week) in more fandoms than I actively read or consider myself a part of (right now, Steph the iPod contains stories in J2, SGA, bandom, The Breakfast Club, AI8, AI7, Merlin, Leverage, and at least a couple more that I'm forgetting) so encouraging readers in my fandom doesn't work as a motivation for me. The idea of encouraging readers whose readings I like, though, especially if they're just starting out, seems like a good and important thing to keep in mind.
